of old and new. The house dates from around 1360 with later additions in the seventeenth century and Victorian times. There are two lounges for guests to enjoy: in summer the sun streams through the large drawing room windows and guests can listen to birdsong whilst admiring beautiful views over Skiddaw; during the cooler months, log fires burn in the study where there is a selection of board games to play or take time to curl up in front of the fire and read some of the many books available. The location of Boltongate Old Rectory, amid peaceful countryside with the fells and mountains beyond, could hardly be more beautiful. The house is set in three and a half acres of mature grounds with ample car parking, a duck pond and a lily pond. Situated in the quieter Northern Lakes this is the perfect centre from which to explore Buttermere and Derwentwater, and the majestic peaks of Skiddaw, Blencathra and the Northern Fells of the Lake District. As the house has only three guest bedrooms, many couples return with friends or family and book the whole house for birthdays, special occasions or just to catch up. Recommended by "Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay", The Rough Guide, Cool Places, and also Silver Winner of Best B&B in England 2008/9. Boltongate Old Rectory is entirely no smoking. Children over the age of 14 are welcome at anytime, younger children only as part of a full house booking. Rates £££ = £121 – 150 Per Night, Double Room B&B
